Msafiri, is a resin ball-jointed-doll assembled from 3d printed parts.
As a doll maker, creating a finished work of art is a demanding journey. Each piece I create requires deep dedication and the proficiency of multiple skills and mediums, resulting from countless hours of labor and experimentation. This process is far from straightforward; it’s an exploration of form, texture, and emotion that pushes the boundaries of my artistic practice.
After more than a year of prototyping, the nude sculpture I present is the closest I’ve come to what I consider a finished product. This piece reflects my commitment to the craft, representing not just the final form but the many stages of trial and error that shaped it. Despite numerous setbacks and outright failures, my visions won’t leave me alone. I know this is what I have to do.
While I’ve explored other forms of artistic expression, such as drawing and painting, none have resonated with me as deeply as sculpture. The tactile nature of working in three dimensions allows me to connect with my work on a new level, bringing concepts to life in a tangible form.
Through the challenges of developing my art, I have learned the importance of celebrating my creations, even when they’re raw and incomplete. These works, though not yet polished, capture the essence of my artistic journey—the passion, frustration, breakthroughs, and setbacks that define my practice.
